Common Questions About BBQ Thermometers

Can INKBIRD BBQ Thermometer be left in the meat while cooking?

Yes, that’s what it’s designed for. Unlike instant-read thermometers, the INKBIRD BBQ thermometer is designed to stay inside the meat throughout the cooking process. With its digital display and the INKBIRD app, you can easily monitor the temperature in real time.

Is INKBIRD BBQ Thermometer suitable for my oven, grill or smoker?

Yep. Basically, if your oven, grill, or smoker has a small gap when the lid is closed that allows the cable to extend out, our barbecue thermometer will work perfectly. These probes are built to withstand the high temperatures and conditions of these cooking appliances. However, if your find that the lid closes tightly, you might want to check out the INKBIRD Wireless Thermometer, which eliminates the cable for truly wireless meat temperature monitoring.

Can I leave INKBIRD BBQ Thermometer over an open flame?

Despite being made to handle high temperatures, it’s best to avoid exposing INKBIRD BBQ Thermometer probe directly to an open flame. Doing so could lead to inaccurate temperature readings and may reduce the probe lifespan.

Where should the probe be left into the meat?

To get an accurate internal temperature reading, insert the probe into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bone, gristle, or large pockets of fat. Focus on the center of this thick area and make sure the probe goes in deep enough so that the tip is well within the meat mass.

Can I read temperatures on my smartphone?

Yes. One of the key advantages of INKBIRD BBQ Thermometer is its ability to connect via WiFi and/or Bluetooth. Not only can you monitor temperatures remotely through the INKBIRD app, but also you can select preset menus, set high and low temperature alerts, view historical data, and more.

Can a meat probe monitor oven temperature?

Yes, all INKBIRD grill thermometers can connect with at least two probes and include a handy clip for attaching one of the probes to your grill for easy measurement of ambient temperature.

How do I calibrate a BBQ thermometer?

You can use the ice water test to calibrate your grilling thermometer. Prepare an ice water bath, which should consist mostly of ice with just a bit of water. Then, insert the probe into the mixture, ensuring it doesn’t touch the bottom of the container. Give it a few minutes to stabilize, and then check the reading. If it doesn’t read 32°F (0°C), use the calibration function to adjust the reading.

How to choose the right INKBIRD BBQ thermometer for my needs?

First things first, determine how many types of meat or areas of the grill you need to monitor at the same time, which will help you decide on the number of probes you need. If you’re uncertain, choosing a device with four probes is a safe bet.

Beyond that, consider whether you require remote monitoring through WiFi or Bluetooth. WiFi-enabled grill thermometers offer unlimited range as long as you’re within the coverage area. However, if you often grill outdoors or find that the thermometer often falls outside WiFi range, a Bluetooth grill thermometer would be a better fit for your needs.

How do I clean the probes?

After each use, clean the probes immediately with warm, soapy water. But it’s important to avoid submerging the entire probe, especially the connection point to prevent water damage. Plus, ensure that the probes are completely dry before you store them away.
